MICHIGAN COURSES OFFERED
Congratulations on deciding to get your CPL License or attend one of our other great firearm training courses. All of our courses are taught by NRA Certified Trainers and are held in multiple venues across the metro area.
We offer Three (3) different ways for you to attend one of our firearm traning courses;

You can attend one of the classes that we teach out and around the Metro Detroit area.

We will hold a class at your location, throughout Michigan, if you have 25 people or more. We do this for service organizations, businesses, unions, clubs and private groups. If you are the individual who organizes the class in your area and you have at least 25 people to attend, you can attend the class for FREE (and you can be the 25th person, so you only need 24 more). If we hold a class at your location, you will need to provide a place to hold the class, it can be most anywhere (even a home) as long as there is a white wall for projection overheads. You will need to provide a legal shooting location, such as a gun club, shooting range, or even a farm in the country that allows the shooting of pistols.

MICHIGAN CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT (CPL, CCW)
NRA - PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME
This is the class you need to get your Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL). Upon completing this course you will meet the requirements and be qualified to apply for a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) sometimes referred to as CCW.
Students with minimum handgun experience are welcome in our CPL Classes. The lack of experience is not mandatory to the participation in the CPL Class. There are lots of people that have attended our classes that have not fired a handgun in their life.
The NRA Personal Protection in the Home Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. The NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course participants must be law abiding, adults (at least 21 years old), and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.

MICHIGAN - NRA BASIC PISTOL SAFETY Course

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is designed by the NRA as a primer course for new pistol owners or those considering a pistol purchase. While the NRA Course is a familiarization course only, MIDWEST FIREARM TRAINING goes well beyond the requirements of the NRA curriculum to provide you with in-depth training in safe firearm handlilng skills and marksmanship skills. We format this as a two day course. Day one is academics where the student learns about firearm construction and function, gun safety rules, ammunition construction and types, safe firearm handling skills, accepted safe storage practices, and the shooting sports. Day two is a live fire day where we work with you on low powered pistols until you gain proficient marksmanship skills. The the student is given a chance to fire higher powered pistols for familiarization purposes. Completion of the course results in an NRA Completion Certificate which can be used to obtain a concealed carry permit in most states.

NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME
This course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. It is comprehensive and intensive in its approach to equip the defensive shooting candidate with the skills needed to survive serious adversity. Students have the opportunity to attend this course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.
PRIVATE TRAINING
Those who cannot attend a scheduled course date, or want to take the class alone or with a group of friends/relatives/coworkers, prefer more personalized training, or require anonymity should consider a private class. The Michigan CPL Class can be conducted anywhere that is convenient for you. We will bring all the necessary supplies to your location, and the class can be completed in one session or over several - at your convenience.
We also understand and respect your privacy. Many people in the public eye prefer to keep this process as discrete as possible and MIDWEST FIREARM TRAINING can help with that. We have had many politicians, legal professionals, clergy, and other public figures through our private lessons so we fully understand the importance of discretion in these matters.
Private sessions offer a higher level of attention, and you can choose your own group so you are surrounded by familiar faces (a nice thing when handling firearms), as well as a longer period of live fire time. We have a 100% satisfaction rate and intend to keep it that way. We normally hold these classes over two weeknights, typically a Tuesday for classroom instruction and a Thursday for live fire. On average, we are booked 1 week in advance for weeknights and 5+ weeks for weekend private classes. (4 person minimum on weekends, no minimum on weeknights)

WOMEN ONLY DEFENSIVE HANDGUN COURSE

MIDWEST FIREARM TRAINING instructors understand the training needs for the female gun owner. We will teach the female shooter how to safely use and maintain their firearms, how to handle and avoid potentially dangerous situations, and target accuracy. This course is presented to the female shooter in a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment, where the instructors relate to you on a personal level.
This is a 2-day course that will insure the female gun owner will be proficient in the use and handling of their firearms. Day one of this course will be spent in the classroom discussing firearms safety for the home, workplace, and vehicle. We will also cover self-defense strategies for women, defensive firearm tactics, and danger avoidance.
Day 2 will be spent on the range teaching the fundamentals of safe gun handling skills, presentation, sight alignment, and loading/unloading of semi-auto handguns and revolvers. This portion of the course will be taught using blue guns (safe guns) until the female shooter is comfortable with their firearm.
We welcome groups! Many times women will come to our course as group, either as friends, a social club, as co-workers, etc. This is a great and fun way to learn, as well as being in a familiar and supportive environment. Sign-up 5 or more students for a group class and your tuition is free!
