MARWIDA SWIMWEAR

Marwida was founded as a climate smart brand. Elegant swimwear produced with the highest quality sustainable fabrics and craftsmanship, Created and designed from recycled materials, each and every swimsuit is made to last long and dry quickly.

Most of the recycled plastic that is used in Marwida's proprietary fabrics comes from litter that is collected from the Mediterranean Sea. A mission that is near and dear to the company's heart. It is quite ironic, but truly amazing that plastic waste, which is collected from the sea, actually returns to the sea each time someone wears a pair of Marwida's swim shorts while swimming in any ocean.

Every year more than 12 million tons of plastic end up in the world's oceans. Marwida's mission is to work only with up-cycled materials, the majority of which are marine-based. About 40% of the materials that go into each swimsuit is from SEAQUAL® YARN, a polyester yarn produced under license from The SEAQUAL Initiative. The remaining 60% comes from recycled plastic bottles from land and sea.

Marwida Swimwear is the brainchild of two Swedish creatives, John Magnér and Anders Carleö. "Having spent endless summers mostly by the Mediterranean Sea, we started thinking about how to combine our passion for the area’s style and design with saving our waters, says Magnér. "With a new climate positive design process in mind, we understood that marine litter actually can be our most valuable source. Quality-wise, look and feel, as well as poetically. I mean, what product could be better than swim shorts? We’ll literally be diving in to the same waters our fabric comes from." boasts Carleö.

Marwida is truly an inspiring brand that really is making a difference. In a world where litter & pollution are all around us, and climate change a real threat, brands must adapt and re-think their role in the global ecosystem. Marwida is definitely leading the way by example!
