Nine Runway Trends Taking Shape for 2027, Straight from New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2027 may have seen its final show hit the runway, but the analysis is far from over. There's plenty to dig into, including which trends came to fruition, and with 63 runway shows packed into the week, there's no shortage of material to examine.

Among NYFW's color trends, one stood out above the rest: cobalt blue, otherwise known as Yves Klein blue. If cobalt already strikes you as a trend, you'd be right—it's been building momentum throughout the year, with nowhere to go but further up. A long list of designers worked cobalt into their collections, including Kallmeyer, TWP, Ralph Lauren, Diotima, and Calvin Klein Collection. Sometimes it appeared as just a hint of blue, but far more often, designers leaned fully into the trend, making cobalt the centerpiece of multiple looks.

Column skirts remained present and accounted for on the S/S 27 runways, but it soon became evident that another shape was gearing up for a return: full skirts.
